Odisha Govt Extends KALIA Yojana(Scheme): Farmers' Support Extended

The Odisha government has decided to extend the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme for farmers by three more years, from 2024-25 to 2026-27. This move comes with a budget allocation of Rs. 6,029.7 crore.

Extension of KALIA Yojana

The state cabinet, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, made this decision recently. Unlike before, there won't be fixed dates for providing financial assistance to farmers under the scheme. The government can adjust the dates based on the prevailing circumstances.

Flexible Assistance Dates

Previously, assistance under KALIA was given before the two cropping seasons, starting from April 1 and September 1. Now, the government can advance these dates for the benefit of farmers.

Enhancing Livelihoods

Additionally, the cabinet decided to offer one-time financial aid of Rs. 2,000 to eligible landless agricultural households. This aid aims to boost their livelihood and increase their overall income.

Encouraging Investments

In another significant decision, the cabinet approved amendments to the Odisha Semiconductor Manufacturing and Fabless Policy-2023. These changes are intended to attract investors for semiconductor and electronic chip manufacturing projects in the state.

Support for Education

Furthermore, the government plans to extend grant-in-aid to eligible employees of non-government aided high schools and Sanskrit tols. This step will benefit around 7,796 teaching and non-teaching employees.

Advanced Assistance Dates

To ensure smooth agricultural operations, the KALIA assistance release dates may be advanced. The assistance can start as early as April 15 for the Kharif season and September 1 for the Rabi season.

Continued Support for Landless Households

Landless agricultural households that have already received the full instalment of Rs. 12,500 will also receive additional financial support as decided by the government.

By implementing these measures, the Odisha government aims to promote the welfare of farmers and ensure their active participation in the state's economic growth.
