Ending a chapter in the history of Odia film industry, Nijam died in Bhubaneswar at a Private hospital at the age of 62. He complained for kidney problem was admitted to Apollo hospital, Bhubaneswar.

Nizam is known mainly for his film song compositions and has penned the songs hundreds of Odia movies including 'Hrudayara Eei Sunyata Ku Aaji Pachari Mu Jebe Sune’ and ‘Mu Je Eka Pagala Bhanra’.
